DOMESTIC IS (NEVER) BETTER

We tried a lot of them and concluded - the best pistachio spread is not produced in Italy, but in Zagreb

We love small brands that are constantly working on new products and win us over with each one. That's exactly what Chozen is and that's exactly what happened with their Pistachio Pecan Spreads

In search of the best pistachio spread, the one that all home confectioners and bakers have been crazy about for the last two years, which is the main star of numerous videos on social networks that make us drool and which is actually best on a spoon, we recently organized a small tasting . We bought about 10 spreads, we also tried two butters, mostly all of them were Italian and mostly all of them seemed too sweet to us. None of them impressed us completely, until, after testing and out of competition, we tried the spread of the Zagreb brand Chozen.

GOOD FOOD TEST: WE TASTE PISTACHIO SPREADS (AND BUTTER).

We have already written about Dražen Zeljković and Chozen on several occasions, he won us over with his chocolate candies, incredible dessert with yuzu, recently in collaboration with the brand Materia presented i matcha honey (he also offers them in other flavors, among which hazelnut-coffee is our favorite), and when we tasted his new (but not the latest!) products – pecan spread and pistachio spread, it was immediately clear to us that Dražen with his team once again made a delicacy that we will very likely become addicted to.

Chozen pistachio spread contains 50 percent pistachios, the fat used in its preparation is sunflower oil (unlike commercial spreads that we have tasted, some of which contain palm oil), it is nicely spreadable, and what we especially like is a good dose of saltiness which gives the spread an even better, deeper taste. In addition to pistachios, Chozen also produces a pecan spread that, quite unexpectedly, may be even better for us. In addition to being nicely nutty (it also contains 50 percent pecans), sweet and salty, the taste also has a touch of bitterness that makes it even more complex and interesting. We have already added both spreads to the biscuit mix and various cake creams (fake tiramisu with lemon and pistachio, for example) and in both cases they worked great, but we'll admit it, the best are still only served with a spoon. The price of both spreads is 10.30 euros for 200 grams.

It is good to add that Chozen recently announced another novelty - chocolate Easter eggs. Weighing 600 grams, they are made with the addition of freeze-dried fruit, which they also make themselves, and come in two varieties - hazelnut and passion fruit and pistachio and raspberry.

As they say from Chozen, these chocolate eggs are an ideal gift for family and friends who really love chocolate, so if you have someone like that around you, consider this kind of chocolate gift for Easter or, more simply, treat yourself. The price of eggs with hazelnuts is 53 euros, and with pistachios 60 euros. Find more information here.
